One Book, One Community Fall 2002
Let's unify our community by exchanging thoughts on a good book. Our book chosen for this fall is Homer Hickam, Jr.'s "Rocket Boys". This New York Times #1 Best Selling Memoir inspired the film October Sky.
Synopsis of this book: Homer Hickam, a NASA enineer, recounts his childhood in Coalwood, a West Virginia mining town, and discusses his dreams of launching rockets into outer space, and how he made those dreams come true.
The books appeals to a wide range, from middle school through senior citizens.
Planned Events include:


Friday 9/20 - Showing of the movie inspired by the book "Rocket Boys"- Sycamore Park at dusk - sponsored by Fairfield Federal - bring a blanket & enjoy !!


Kick-Off Event - Saturday 10/5 at the Library - 1:30 pm

Saturday 10/12, at 1:30 pm - Come to the library & meet Emily Sue Buckberry, childhood friend of Homer Hickam's, and hear about
the making of the movie - October Sky

7:30 pm - Come see what inspired the Rocket Boys !!!
